Stockholm - learning opportunities
Sweden has some of the finest learning opportunities in the world with its no-fee education system available for all citizens. We took a tour of one school for secondary students called Kunskapsskolan. The school is the largest independent school in Sweden with 21 secondary schools and nine upper secondary schools with 9,200 pupils. The concept here is to prepare the student with skills and knowledge, as well as personal development to be able to meet a future world with a vast flow of information and change. Each pupil learns at their own pace in their own way in collective small groups and on their own. You can learn more by visiting the website- www.kunskapsskolan.se
Another incredible learning experience was the CIRKUS GRANSLOS, a small troupe of special needs performers who dance, perform acrobatics, trapeze, juggle and play music all over Sweden and Europe. The group thrilled the audience with their talent, enthusiasm and creativity. The performers designed each act to suit their unique skills and interests to show that each and every person has wonderful gifts to share with the world. Each minute was filled with colour, movement and music.
Stockholm co-operates with the Swedish National Society for Persons with Mental Disability. Cirkus Gränslös (Circus Boundless) is a culture group in SV Stockholm, the section for people with mental disability.
The group was founded in 2000 and consists of nine circus artists with an intellectual handicap. The coaches of the group are Katharina Laurell, drama teacher and circle leader from SV Stockholm, Marina Granlund and Danny Eriksson, actors from the independent theatre group Circus Tigerbrand and Samuel Andersson muscian.
Certainly one of the best circus acts in Sweden! You can check out their website at www.cirkusgranslos.com
