Tavistock with Louisa Booth

We journeyed to Tavistock in Devon England to weave tales of Reiki at a storytelling workshop organized by Reiki Master Louisa Booth.  About 20 people attended from far away.  Barry and Annetta Hurley came to share their wonderful stories from Ireland.  The magic of the landscape carried us through time and space as we visited the dramatic moors.

It is my honour to share a very special poem written by long time resident Sheena Odle of Tavistock that is a poetic tribute to Reiki.

Initiation

The lovely energy that links all life

to life beyond this life

is with us now

filling the air with golden light

firing our hearts and hands.

It brings...

a birthing, a blessing

a believing

and a healing.

Points of Interest...

Did you know that there are over 37 different kinds of cheese made in this area including Stinky Bishop, Cardinal sin and Ticklemore?

That the word Tavistock means dark water where cows come to drink.

That there are stories of "little people" who live on the moors.

Among the turf and rocky outcrops of Dartmoor, about 0.5km (0.3mi) from the village of Merrivale, is a fine 3.2m (10.5ft) standing stone. This stone is part of a complex including a stone circle, a burial cist, a series of stone rows and numerous hut circles - the houses of the Bronze Age people who created and used this sacred area.
